Why are the courses unique/specific to Italians?

The lessons are T.E.F.L. standard, which is what a foreign student would receive if he came to an English language school with the added benefit of Italian translation throughout at the click of a button.

  • It's a quality course, innovative, interactive and fun!
  • It includes over 50 ways to learn and practice English.
  • It's for Italian speakers only! There is Italian translation throughout at the click of a button.
  • Each level includes 4 x 30 minute lessons of one to one conversation.(Except the Commercial course which includes 8 x 30 minute conversation lessons) 
  • Your teachers are T.E.F.L qualified and a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, are mother tongue English of course, live in England and have a knowledge of Italian. The costs of the phone calls/Voice IP is included in the course.
  • Correction of free writing work is included in the course.
  • You can study at the best time for you – the course is available 24 hours a day.
  • You can go at the pace to suit you. If you want to do the course intensively, for example study full time for a month – no problem! You simply book the conversation lessons when prompted at regular points during the course. You choose the date and time to suite you from the online calendar. Likewise, if you want to take your time or have a holiday, you book your lesson for a later date that suits you.

What level should I do?

1) Beginners Level
This level is suited to completely new students with no existing knowledge of English, or students who studied a long time ago and want to refresh the basics up to an intermediate level. Or for students have have obtained less than 25 points in the level test.

2) Pre-Intermediate Level
This level is for students who have completed the beginners level, or have attained over 26-44 points in the level test.

2) Intermediate Level
This level is for students who have completed the beginners and pre-intermediate levels, or have attained over 45 -75 points in the level test.

3) Upper Intermediate Level
This level is suitable for students studying English at University, for students who have already have a very good knowledge of English or who have obtained over 75 points in the level test.

How long is the course?

 

The Beginner's course contains 8 sections with a total of 65 lessons, 4 x conversation lessons and correction of your free written work. Total of about 65 hours of study.

The Pre-Intermediate course contains 8 sections with a total of 58 lessons, 4 conversation lessons and correction of free written work. Total of about 65 hours of study.

The Intermediate course contains 8 sections with a total of 56 lessons, 4 conversation lessons and correction of free written work. Total of about 65 hours of study.

The Upper Intermediate course contains 8 sections with a total of 51 lessons, 4 conversation lessons and correction of free written work.  Total of about 65 hours of study.

What is included in the course?

1) Conversation
4 x 30 minute conversation lessons on a one to one basis with correction (instant messaging) are included in the 'Beginner' 'Pre-Intermediate' 'Intermediate' and 'Upper Intermediate' courses. 8 x 30 minute conversation lessons on a one to one basis with correction (instant messaging) are included in the 'Commercial' course.

You can choose to have your conversation lessons over the telephone or Voice IP/Skype (if you have broadband).

The conversation practices the English learned during the course in a free and natural way.
You book your preferred date and time for your conversation class when you get to each “Book Speaking” points of the course.

Your teacher will be T.E.F.L. qualified, have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, be mother tongue English and speak Italian.

2) Pronunciation
Pronunciation is one of the most difficult parts of English. To hear the correct pronunciation you simply click the speaker sign next to the word. The pronunciation is given for every new word. Any pronunciation problems you have will be corrected by your teacher during your conversation classes.

The 'English for Italy Ltd' English course includes an English/Italian audio dictionary for each section (except the first two sections of the beginners course). The dictionary includes all the new words necessary for the exercises and the audio gives the student perfect pronunciation spoken by a variety of English people.

3) Grammar
Grammar is explained clearly in both English and Italian. The rules are followed by a variety of practice exercises. The course also includes ‘'hen you use...' sections for each tense because we use tenses very differently!

4) Vocabulary
Vocabulary is made fun and easy to remember using a variety of exercises and games.
The pronunciation is given for each new word.
The Italian translation is available for each new word.
Words are also repeated throughout the course as repetition helps the memory!

5) Listening
Listening is a very important part of learning English. The courses include varied and interesting recordings by a variety of mother tongue speakers which become gradually more difficult according to the level being taught.
There are also some Italian recordings (by native Italians) for translation purposes.
There are various styles of questions to test comprehension.

There is a stop, rewind and play button so you can repeat the recording (or part of a recording) as often as you wish.

6) Video
The courses include video recordings with various styles of questions to test comprehension. Answers are available at the click of a button.

7) Reading
The course includes interesting factual articles (the difficulty matches the level being studied). There are various styles of questions to test comprehension. Answers are available at the click of a button.

8) Writing
You are given a choice of topics to write about to check your written English. You simply email them to us for correction..

9) Correction of written work
You simply email your written articles to us for correction.

10) Quizzes
The language learned is revised in quiz style revision exercises with a point system so you can measure your progress whilst enjoy practicing your English.

11) Games
There are lots of enjoyable language 'games' to practice your English. The more you enjoy the course, the more you'll remember and the higher your result will be at the end.

12) Typical English phrases in various situations
The course includes 'Situation English' ie. Fixed phrases that are used in a certain situation, for example: Language to use on the telephone, different ways to ask for something ect.

These are also practiced in the conversation lessons.

13) Revision
The English learned during your course is revised in the form of a quiz, with points so you can measure your progress.

14) Optional Test & Certificate
The final section (Section 16) parts 2 & 3 are optional tests designed to gauge your progress. You receive a certificate if you obtain 50% or more in the test.

The test comprises of a 10 minute conversation test, vocabulary test, free writing test and general English test.

The test is optional, if you prefer we can send you the answers and you can use it as a further revision exercise.
